Grace Church of La Chorrera has had the privilege of ministering to the families of Valle Dorado, Villas del Bosque, and the Área Industrial by hosting an annual Vacation Bible School for children. Using puppets, games, crafts, first person narratives, and Bible stories, all based on our biblical themes, we have been able to effectively share the Gospel of Christ with as many as 55-60 children at a time. Over the years our themes have ranged from “God Always Wins”, “The Armor of God”, and “Hidden Treasures”, and our focus has been and always will be to glorify God as we seek to spread His message of salvation to our community.

Dental Clinic

Our most recent community outreach was held in July of 2009. Over the course of a week we were privileged to host a 6 member mission team representing Grace Dental & Medical Mission, out of Boston, Massachusetts. The team was made up of Dr. Jack Mitchell, his wife and dental assistant Jennifer, and helpers Bryan & Emily Bell, Steve Diem, and “Cuppy” Sharon Gingrass. We were also blessed to have a local dentist from Panama participate, Dr. Vicky Salcedo. During the week we were able to offer free dental services such as cleanings, fillings, and extractions to over 200 patients, while sharing the Gospel message with each person who walked through our doors. Each was given a copy of the Gospels of John & Romans, and personal contact information was recorded for follow-up purposes. One prayed to received Christ right there at the clinic and many other seeds were planted. Please pray that fruit would result and that the surrounding communities would see Christ’s light through Grace Church of La Chorrera.

Yearly Community Christmas Cantata

In accord with our purpose statement, Grace Church of La Chorrera always seeks to glorify God while taking advantage of each opportunity that He presents to preach the Word and share the Gospel message with the lost. One of these opportunities has been to participate in a local fair which takes place annually only a few miles from our church. In 2004 we began by distributing Gospel tracts just outside the entrance gates to the fair. When we saw the masses of people attending, we decided that it would be beneficial to rent a booth to minister from the inside. The following year, 2005, we did just that. Mark Ring and Steve Dickenson, from Comforting Mercies Ministries, offered to come to Panama and bring with them 5,000 children’s Bible story CD’s to distribute as free gifts at the fair. Along with the CD’s, we distributed Bibles, Gospels tracts, church brochures, and children’s coloring books, all free of charge. The ministry was such a hit that the following year Mark Ring returned with 10,000 CD’s and 4 helpers in order to minister to the masses in La Chorrera. That year we were able to share the message of Christ with literally thousands through CD’s, Bibles, tracts, quality Christian music, brochures, and even a puppet show presentation. We continue to pray that the thousands of Gospel seeds planted would sprout forth in hearts and would bring forth fruits of salvation.
